But is mass tourism really the best option when it comes to making the best for local people. This essay will look into the advantages and disadvantages of mass tourism in Mount Everest. Many argue that mass tourism is the wisest choice as it allows local people to making a living from tourism and there is no denying that mass tourism is also a reasonable course of action for those who wish to get access to better and newer social services. Yet, there are factors like preserving their lifestyle or having a stress-free mind that should also be taken into account in order to make the best choice. There is much more to life than just easy money or getting access to new services such as internet. According to the latest research, 75% of local people value preserving their lifestyle over economic growth. Also, if l consider the fact that not having to constantly been In a rush plays a crucial role in keeping your stress levels at check, then mass tourism does not seem to be such a great idea after all. Moreover, to implant a regulated tourism has two additional major advantages, namely local people would be able to maintain their cultural traditions and environmental conservation. If keeping cultural traditions ranks high on local’s people priority list, then mass tourism should definitely be out of the question. And last, but certainly not least, they must consider whether pollution, and climatic change’s effects are an issue for them. If so, then a regulated tourism is likely to be a much better option for local people. To sum up, although on the face of it mass tourism sounds like a good idea when it comes to developing a society, a more in-depth analysis suggests otherwise. In fact, most evidence points to the fact that if preserving their lifestyle, low stress level, keeping local culture and environmental conservation is what they are after, then being a regulated tourism will probably work best for them.
